For the first time, the dancer and choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly from Burkina Faso comes with his company, the "Faso Danse Théâtre" to Cologne. In WAKATT, he reflects together with the musician and composer Malik Mezzardri on the times we currently live in. In 2018, at the beginning of rehearsals, the central theme of the piece was the fear of the "other", the "foreigner", which surrounds us more and more, fuelled by rampant nationalism and terrorism worldwide. In the midst of the rehearsal process, the pandemic emerged with its global regulations, which not only influenced the agenda and funding of WAKATT, but also pushed the new question of "How can we talk about the present?". WAKATT is a combative confrontation in which the ten dancers and three musicians struggle for a common, tolerant and open future.

In addition to works for his own company, he collaborates, among others, with Alain Platel and Sidi Larbi Cherakaoui. As he needed a place for experimentation, reflection and for his particular concept of artistic engagement, Coulibaly founded "ANKATA", a laboratory for research and production in the performing arts, in Bobo-Dioulasso.
