THE GAP 2.0
an audio piece
Originally, for 9 June, the anniversary of the 2004 nail bomb attack on the Keupstraße, we planned to show a reworking of the piece. Although the current Corona Regulations put a spoke in our wheel, we remain on air with this subject – the production team in cooperation with the persons involved recorded an audio piece which will be available on our website over a longer period of time.
Since its premiere six years ago, Germany has been shaken by numerous racist murders and attacks, such as in Halle, Hanau, Chemnitz, or Kassel - the right wing has armed itself. Also, the NSU trial came to a supposed conclusion after five long years and the guilty verdict of over 3,000 pages was only published at the beginning of May; nevertheless, many questions remain unanswered and the controversy is by no means over: Lawyers for the murder victims complain that the court failed to put a face to the murder victims. They also complain that the role of the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the role of the police was not adequately addressed.
In LÜCKE 2.0 (GAP 2.0), we ask how the victims of the Keupstraße perceived the NSU verdict, what the current status is regarding the memorial, the planned place of remembrance and learning, and what it is like to live in Germany today.
