Filip Caranica was born in Bucharest, Romania and is an artist based in Berlin. He studied classical composition as well as electronic music and sound art at the University of Music Berlin (HfM) and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP). Since 2013, Caranica has developed compositions and sound designs for art and theatre, which have been presented at venues including MoMA New York, Tate Modern London, Kunsthaus Bregenz, I: Project Space Beijing, Gropius Bau Berlin, M HKA Antwerp, Schauspiel Leipzig, Mousonturm Frankfurt, Sophiensaele Berlin, as well as at the Biennale de Lyon, Berlinale, and Sharjah Biennial. Supported by scholarships from the Else Heiliger Fund, Kunstfonds, and Künstlerbund, Caranica has deepened his engagement with the medium of sound since 2018 through his own video works and installations.
