Björn Gabriel is a director, writer, and video artist based in Cologne. For several years, he worked as an actor at theatres including the Thalia Theater Hamburg, Staatsschauspiel Dresden, and Schauspiel Dortmund, collaborating with directors such as Milo Rau, Kay Voges, and Claudia Bauer. Since 2008, he has directed productions at renowned municipal and state theatres as well as within the independent performing arts scene throughout the German-speaking world. His work is interdisciplinary, often combining theatre and live film in hybrid performance formats. In 2020, he co-founded Studio Trafique in Cologne together with Anna Marienfeld. The company has received numerous awards, including the Cologne Theatre Prize, the Cologne Culture Prize, and several festival awards.
