Branko Janack (born 1990) studied directing for the stage at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin and at the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark. From 2009 to 2011, he completed assistant directing and internship positions at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. From 2011 to 2013, he was assistant to the artistic director of the Junges Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf and assistant director at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. In the 2013|14 season, he served as assistant director at the Maxim Gorki Theater. His first own productions were created at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus and at the bat-Studiotheater. Further work followed at, among others, the Volkstheater Wien, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, Schauspiel Köln, the Deutsches Theater Göttingen, Schauspielhaus Graz, Schauspiel Hannover, Staatstheater Nürnberg, and the Internationale Schillertage. He has also directed for the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Kunstfest Weimar at DNT Weimar, the 2018 Stückemarkt of the Berliner Theatertreffen, Mitos21, the Dramatikerinnenfestival Graz in 2022 and 2024, the Theater Chemnitz, as well as in Denmark.
