Chris Kondek is a Berlin-based video artist and director whose work bridges media, theater, opera, and digital performance. Originally from Boston, he began his career in New York with The Wooster Group and collaborated with Laurie Anderson. Since moving to Berlin in 1999, he has created video designs for theater and opera across Europe, working with artists such as Meg Stuart, Sebastian Baumgarten, Stefan Pucher, Falk Richter, and Pierre Audi. In 2012, he received the Faust Prize alongside set designer Barbara Ehenes for “Quijote: Trip Zwischen Welten” at the Thalia Theater. In 2004, he co-founded the performance collective doublelucky productions with Christiane Kühl, which has received international awards. His algorithmic artworks have been exhibited at Berlin’s O&O Depot. Since 2023, Kondek and Kühl hold a joint guest professorship at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
