Michael Verhovec, born in 1969 in Celle, is a self-taught musician who began his career as a drummer in the jazz scene of Hannover after completing secondary school. He received the Jazzpodium Niedersachsen award in 1990 and 1992. His first work in theatre music began in 1996 at Schauspiel Hannover. Since 2000, he has been active as a theatre musician and composer, collaborating with directors such as Jorinde Dröse, Andreas Kriegenburg, Dimiter Gotscheff, and Michael Talke. A particularly long-standing and close collaboration connects him with Stephan Kimmig, with whom he has created numerous productions at venues including Thalia Theater Hamburg, Münchner Kammerspiele, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Burgtheater Wien, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Schauspiel Hannover, Deutsches Theater Berlin, and Residenztheater München. Michael Verhovec lives in Berlin.
