Amineh Arani is an Iranian director, writer, and performer. She studied acting and theatre directing at the University of Art and Architecture in Tehran and has been active since 2012 in Iran’s independent and often censored theatre scene. Her works have received numerous awards at various festivals. As co-writer of the film “And me, I’m Dancing, too”, she won the Crystal Bear at the 2023 Berlinale. In 2024, she appeared in Mohammad Rasoulof’s “The Seed of the Sacred Fig”, an underground film about protest movements, which was awarded the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Following severe political repression, Arani has since been living in exile between Cologne, France, and Istanbul, where she continues to develop new theatre texts and screenplays, including as a Campus France fellow in Marseille.
