Simon Rummel (born 1978) studied piano and composition at the Cologne University of Music and fine arts at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. In 2012, he founded the Simon Rummel Ensemble to perform his own compositions and performance works. A central aspect of his artistic practice is the creation of experimental instrument sculptures, including a microtonal organ. This work led to the CD "Harmonielehre," which was awarded the Robert Schuman Prize of the Quattropole Luxembourg in 2011. In addition to his independent musical projects, he also composes music for theatre and film.
