A Man of Art” by Kristof Magnusson is the “Buch für die Stadt” 2026. A satire set in the heart of the art world: A famous painter who lives in seclusion at a castle on the Rhine, art lovers who revere him and want to build him a museum. Kristof Magnusson’s “A Man of Art” (Goldmann) depicts a clash of worlds that sheds light on the highs and lows of the art world – lighthearted, hilarious, and true. Joining Kristof Magnusson at the easel: Anne Burgmer. The “Buch für die Stadt” (Book for the City) is a joint literary initiative by Literaturhaus Cologne, the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger,” and the “Kölnische Rundschau.” The jury consisted of Bettina Fischer (Literaturhaus Cologne), Hildegund Laaff (Lengfeld’sche Bookstore), Martin Oehlen (literary blog “Bücher-Atlas”), and Anne Burgmer (“Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”). The special edition of the novel is published by Goldmann Verlag. From November 22 to 29, there will be a promotional week in Cologne and throughout the region.
