The ringing of the tram at Neumarkt. The smell of currywurst and nail polish.
Shopping, sightseeing, selfies. Cologne’s city center — full of expectations and contradictions: How you dress. How you speak. How you move. Who belongs. And who doesn’t. A glance that isn’t returned. Sleeping places beneath doorways. What stories hide in a place where so many people pass by, linger, live — or are driven away?
Between shop windows and concrete, DOWNTOWN PARADISE begins to grow — the city becomes a stage.
The youth collective POLYLUX explores how perception, empathy, and responsibility are negotiated in public space — where closeness and distance blur, where movement meets stillness, where visibility remains fleeting.
Inspired the everyday life of the city, POLYLUX invites you to retell public space: A look at what usually stays hidden.
A listening between the noise. An attempt to feel the city before understanding it.
The city becomes an echo of voices, stories, and memories.
With texts and scenes by Julia Dittes, Burak Şengüler and Ronja Simon.
To take part in the performance, you will need your own headphones and a smartphone with internet access. If this is not possible, please feel free to get in touch: theaterstadtschule@schauspiel.koeln
