Gold!

We don’t know when the wave of destructive rightwing populism and grotesque tech capital will have rolled by. Nor do we know what will be waiting for us on the other side. But now we are going to dive through and send some methods and tactics for resistance to the time that comes after. GOLD! begins in Cologne’s Mülheim, in its streets and shops, where people have learnt to overcome obstacles, become resourceful and survive in hostile territory. From here the project moves around the globe, gathering tactics and subversive songs from places that have perhaps never had what we are in danger of losing. What if together we could turn these experiences, that too often remain invisible, into gold? Influenced by the Baroque as an era of endless wars, disease and radical uncertainty, we will form our own language that will shroud our messages so they may be fertile in the future. On the Rhine, where people panned for gold until the 19th century, we will do something new: with everyone participating, we will do away with capitalism’s logic of scarcity. As the climax of a Baroque celebration, we will sink the new Rhine gold in the bed of the Rhine. A message of resistance and trust for intelligences to come, even when the cities on the banks have disappeared.
