Specky Clark
The latest work by Irish shooting star Oona Doherty mixes butchered pigs and family myths, grief and hope, fiction and biography. Inspired by the story of her great-great-grandfather Specky Clark, who worked in a Belfast abattoir, her most personal piece so far tells a tale of class-consciousness, capitalism and family dynamics. With an international dance ensemble and music from the contemporary Irish folk band Lankum and the Sardinian jazz saxophonist and tenor Gavino Murgia she succeeds in producing an intense and wild evening of dance theatre.
