Tabea Braun was born in Roodepoort, South Africa. Since 1992, she has worked as a costume designer for theatre, opera, and film. She maintained a long-standing collaboration with Christoph Schlingensief, including the production of "Parsifal" for the Bayreuth Festival. Since 1999, she has worked closely and continuously with René Pollesch. She designed the costumes for the multiple award-winning feature film “The Unscarred” by Oskar Roehler. Other collaborations include work with Frank Castorf, Stefan Pucher, Sebastian Baumgarten, David Marton, Simon Stone, Schorsch Kamerun, Luc Bondy, Peter Kern, Antu Romero Nunes, Michael Talke, and Ragnar Kjartansson. In 2015, she received the Ruhr Prize for Art & Science. Currently, she teaches costume design at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the Department of Scenography.
