Thomas Dannemann studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin until 1994, but has since also worked as a director and writer. Thinking, failing, working – theatre, and he himself, cannot do without these. Permanent engagements as an actor have taken him to the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Schaubühne Berlin, the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg, and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, among others. He has worked with Barbara Frey, George Tabori, and Jürgen Gosch, among others. As a director, he has staged productions in Cologne, Hanover, Munich, and Leipzig. In 2004, he was named Actor of the Year by Theater heute magazine. From his perspective, there is one thing theatre must do without above all: fear.
