Matteo Haitzmann (born 1990 in Salzburg) lives in Vienna and Berlin. He studied jazz violin at the Anton Bruckner Private University with a focus on baroque violin, performance art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and completed the master’s program Solo | Dance | Authorship at the University of the Arts Berlin. Haitzmann is a founding member of the contemporary folk music ensemble Alma and the Vienna jazz collective “Little Rosies’ Kindergarten.” He creates performances in which physical presence and musical performance merge into hybrid forms. He has performed at venues including the Wiener Musikverein and Konzerthaus, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Centre Pompidou and the Centre National de la Danse in Paris, the Kaaitheater in Brussels, Gessnerallee Zürich, the Ludwigsburg Palace Festival, and the Tirol Festival Erl. His compositional work includes pieces for soloists, duos, ensembles, and orchestras, as well as theatre music. In 2017, he made his debut with Alma and the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria in the Golden Hall of the Wiener Musikverein.
