Max Lyandvert is a composer, sound artist, and director recognized for his work with major theatre companies and multiple awards, including two Helpmann Awards (2005, 2008). He has been nominated for numerous Helpmann, Sydney Theatre, and Greenroom awards. Max has collaborated extensively with Sydney Theatre Company, Company B/Belvoir, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Malthouse Theatre, QTC, Legs on the Wall, Hothouse Theatre, and Griffin Theatre Company. Notable productions include War of the Roses, Julius Caesar, Festen, and Oresteia. He has worked with directors such as Rodney Fisher, Benedict Andrews, Romeo Castellucci, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Annabel Arden. Max composed choir arrangements for the film “Hey Hey It’s Esther Blueburger” (2008) and was Artist in Residence at NIDA (2011). He scored the mini-series “Devils Playground” and documentaries “Gayby Baby” and “After the Wave.” In 2014, he received the Australia Council Theatre Fellowship. As a director, his works include “Manna (STC, 2009), “Nether”, and “Close Your Little Eyes”, performed at Sydney Festival.
