Markus Öhrn (born 1972 in Sweden) is a director, performance, and video artist. In 2008, he completed his studies at the Swedish University of Arts Konstfack in Stockholm with a Master of Fine Arts. His first directorial work, “Conte D’Amour”, which he developed in 2010 in collaboration with the groups Institutet (SWE) and Nya Rampen (FI), was invited to the Festival d’Avignon in 2012. He continued these collaborations with the performances “We love Africa and Africa Loves Us” and “Bis zum Tod.” His many subsequent theater works have been presented on numerous international stages and at festivals around the world. In 2019, Öhrn received the Nestroy Special Award for “3 Episodes of Life”, and in 2023 he was nominated for “Best Director” for “Szenen einer Ehe.” He lives and works in a small village in northern Sweden.
