Dori Parnes works in theatre in the fields of music and translation. He has composed music for numerous productions at all major theatres in Israel. Among his most important musical works outside the theatre are "A Poet in New York", a large-scale composition for orchestra, choir, and soloists, "Yes", based on poems by E. E. Cummings, and the project "The Poet", based on texts by Hezy Leskly. He has enjoyed a long-standing collaboration with Itay Tiran, most recently on his production of ONKEL WANJA at Schauspiel Köln. In addition, he has translated more than 100 plays of all genres into Hebrew, ranging from classical works to contemporary drama. For his translations, he has received all major Israeli awards, including, most recently, the Prize for Originality in the Hebrew Language, particularly for his modern translations of 32 Shakespeare plays. His non-theatrical translations include works by Nabokov, Gogol, and a selection of Flaubert’s letters.
