Marcel Urlaub began photography at the age of 12. Since 2002, he has worked as a freelance photographer specializing in theatre and commercial photography. His work has been recognized with numerous awards and honors. Since 2016, he has maintained an artistic collaboration with director Kay Voges. As a photographer, he appeared live on stage for the first time during Voges’s theatre production “hell / ein Augenblick” (Schauspiel Dortmund, 2017); in 2019, he followed with “The City of the Blind” at Schauspielhaus Hamburg. He has taken production photos for institutions such as Berliner Ensemble and Schauspielhaus Bochum. At Volkstheater Vienna, he was responsible for creating and photographing image campaigns for entire seasons as well as production-specific scene photos. For Schauspiel Köln, he photographed the ensemble and team portraits as part of Kay Voges’s start as artistic director.
