Thomas Dannemann studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, graduating in 1994. Since then, he has also worked as a director and writer. Thinking, failing, continuing the search – these are things neither theatre nor Dannemann himself can do without. His permanent engagements as an actor have taken him to the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Deutsches Theater and the Schaubühne in Berlin, where he worked with directors including Barbara Frey, George Tabori and Thomas Ostermeier. As a guest artist, he collaborated with Jürgen Gosch for many years at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg and the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus. He was a resident director in Stuttgart and has also directed productions in Cologne, Bochum, Hanover, Munich, Frankfurt and Leipzig, among other cities. In 2004, the magazine “Theater heute” named him Actor of the Year. In his view, there is one thing above all that theatre must do without: fear.
