Exhaust all possible means of artistic expression – this is what Hasti Molavian wants to do on stage. Born in Tehran, she began as a musician. While still at school she played the violin in chamber orchestras before studying Music Theatre and Voice Performance at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. She was awarded several scholarships, and while studying for her Masters she was a member of the Opera Studio at Oper Dortmund. This was followed by engagements at Oper Bielefeld, the Berlin Philharmonie, in Munich, Düsseldorf, Bonn and at both the Volkstheater and Theater an der Wien in Vienna. She has also performed at the Ruhrtriennale. She has won numerous awards as an actress and singer and worked with directors such as Robert Wilson, Stefan Kaegi and Willy Decker and conductors such as Peter Rundel, Emilio Pomàrico and Steven Sloane. For her, the theatre is a place of dreams: somewhere where visions and world events belong on stage – and not just those of the Western world.
