¿Qué Pasa En la Mancha?

Debut
La Mancha. The broadest plain in Spain. A flat plateau. Neverending. No mountains. No valleys. A couple of stupid windmills … apart from that – nothing. Nada. There’s too much nothingness. It’s intolerable. The fear of emptiness. El horror del vacío. That fear turns one man into – Don Quijote. Someone who wants to squeeze sense out of the world like juice out of an orange. And out of whoever he’s talking to. The ingenious Don Quijote has to make something out of nothing. Any way he can. In search of a feeling. Heartache, for example. A torment that fills the very depths of his soul. Better than nothing. Oh well. ¡Cuando se quiere, se puede! Bastian Reiber’s theatre risks making the biggest promises to arouse the highest expectations – and then failing to fulfil them (though possibly succeeding all the more!). ¿QUÉ PASA EN LA MANCHA? is a ride through the Spanish steppe and right inside the fantastic mind of the unconventional hidalgo Don Quijote. With the courage of its theatrical convictions. The ultimate in acting for acting’s sake – and always teetering on the brink of nothingness.
