Zu Hause ist es am schönsten, sagte die linke Hand und hielt sich an der Heizung fest
Every part of my body wants to go! My eyes are looking forward to the Nile, my ears to jazz in Addis Abeba, my nose to spices in the market in Timbuctoo, my mouth to laughter and my legs to Kilimanjaro. But one part of me doesn’t want to leave: my left hand. It is hanging on to the radiator and suddenly my whole body is arguing with itself. Navid Kermani’s poetic and comic story traces the ambivalence of wanting to travel: our eyes, stomachs, hearts, bottoms, legs and hands all have their own desires, fears and arguments — and they don’t always pull in the same direction. The director Serina Wieser picks up on this idea and lets the body appear as what it is: an entity with multiple voices where contradictory feelings exist side by side. Leaving and staying, courage and caution, curiosity and doubt. What happens when all these voices speak at the same time? How can we negotiate a compromise with ourselves? And how can we actually listen to our own bodies? Blending movement, rhythm and performance, a poetic journey unfolds through internal landscapes — a loving look at our own bodies and a celebration of ambivalent feelings.
