
What does theatre need? A connection to a universal humanity that recognizes the familiar in the foreign – and vice versa. A theatre that merely reproduces the opinions we already hold is boring.
After receiving a scholarship to the School for Creative and Performing Arts in Ohio, Sarah Sandeh studied Theatre, Film, and Media Studies as well as Psychology at Goethe University Frankfurt before training at the Westphalian Drama School Bochum. She first appeared on stage at Schauspiel Frankfurt during her studies, followed by engagements in Berlin, Leipzig, Hanover, Zurich, and Hamburg. She has worked with directors such as Dimiter Gotscheff, Sebastian Hartmann, René Pollesch, Martin Laberenz, Peter Kastenmüller, and Anna Bergmann. Sarah Sandeh has also appeared in film and television productions. Together with others, she organized two evenings at the Berliner Ensemble during the protests in Iran to amplify the calls for "Woman, Life, Freedom." In 2022, she was named one of the "100 Women of the Year" by Focus magazine.
