“To not leave the dead in peace, to not leave the living in peace, to put down roots, to pull up roots, to earn money, (to not have to go to work to work)” – this and no less is what Julia Schubert, agreeing with Thomas Brasch, demands from the theatre. She was born in Leipzig and trained as an actor at Rostock University of Music and Drama. This was followed by engagements at the Grips Theater Berlin, Schauspiel Dortmund, Schauspielhaus Hamburg and both the Schaubühne and the Volksbühne in Berlin. She has worked with Claudia Bauer, Jan Bosse, Thomas Ostermeier, Marco Layera and Amalia Starikow, among others. In Dortmund he directed her first work: “Heimliche Helden”. Julia Schubert is also a member of the artists’ collective Das Manko. Now she is moving from Berlin to Cologne: let the pelican bark and its spit fly upwards!
