Wolfgang Menardi studied acting at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich and performed at renowned theatres across the German-speaking world from 2001 to 2012. In 2006, alongside his acting career, he began working as a stage and costume designer, and from 2011 onward, he focused primarily on this field. Since then, he has created around one hundred stage designs for theatre, opera, and dance on an international level. In parallel, he began studying architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts in 2012. He maintains close collaborations with directors such as Thom Luz, Falk Richter, Yael Ronen, Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, Miloš Lolić, Bernadette Sonnenbichler, Johan Simons, and choreographer Jeroen Verbruggen. He has been repeatedly nominated as Set Designer of the Year by Theater heute and was nominated for the German theatre award Der Faust in 2019 and 2024. Since 2018, Menardi has also worked as a director, including at Staatstheater Mainz, Volkstheater Wien, and Theater Oberhausen.
