Louisa Beck grew up on a farm in Bavaria, surrounded by goats, chickens, and cowboy fantasies. After graduating from high school, she moved to Berlin, where she began her acting studies at the University of the Arts in 2022. During her studies, she worked with director Hermann Schmidt-Rahmer and appeared in Christina Tscharyiski's production of “Liliom” at the Berliner Ensemble. In 2025, she directed her first own piece, “Warten und am Rad drehen - die Odyssee“. Now her path leads her to Schauspiel Köln. What does theatre have to do, according to Louisa Beck? A lot—but above all, nothing! That means remaining unpredictable as a resource and creatively disrupting the capitalist order through non-useful action. What materials belong on stage for her? Heavy, recycled, shimmering, precious, synthetic, elastic, torn, durable, none—and banners!
