What does it mean to live through an entire lifetime? To grow and thrive, and eventually to get older and finally die? In her acclaimed book HUNDERT (“One Hundred”) the author Heike Faller has found a moving way of describing this. 100 years of life – reduced to the max. One meaningful event for each year of life, succinctly described and accompanied by the warm-hearted illustrations of Valerio Vidali: your first smile, your first doubts, your first attempts to conform, the first walls you bang your head on, your first heartbreak! Its words and pictures prompt every generation to think, either individually or collectively, about the big issues of human existence. Poignantly beautiful! In dialogue with seventeen people from the city of Cologne aged between five and one hundred, David Vogel will be inspired by the wise ideas in ONE HUNDRED to create an evening of theatre that gets different generations talking to each other – about everything that makes our lives worth living or frightening, about their pitfalls and dreams, what is easy and what is difficult, what is extremely sad and absolutely wonderful. The Stadtensemble at Schauspiel Köln is made up of everyday experts. It comes together anew each season with a changing cast and develops its own production every year. We’re looking for people between 20 and 60 to share their life experiences on stage. An audition workshop will take place in September 2025. More information available online in our Open Call at the start of the season.
