„Nach dem Massaker im Iran – wie muss die Welt handeln?“
Termine
In cooperation with the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger
Senior officials of Iran’s Ministry of Health estimate that up to 30,000 people were killed within two days during the recent protests against the Islamic Republic of Iran, according to Time magazine. This would make it the bloodiest massacre of demonstrators worldwide within such a short period of time.
On 8 February 2026, Schauspiel Köln invites audiences to a solidarity event for the people of Iran. The aim is to honour their courage and to shed light on their struggle for freedom.
Artist Parastou Forouhar, political scientist and Iran expert Ali Fathollah-Nejad, filmmaker Ali Samadi Ahadi, as well as actress Sarah Sandeh and actress and singer Jasmin Tabatabai will read texts on the current situation in Iran and speak about the necessity of international solidarity, Western policy, and the influence the regime has had—and continues to have—on their own biographies.
Serap Güler, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, will add a political perspective and reaffirm her commitment to international solidarity with the people of Iran.
In addition, physician Shabnam Fahimi-Weber will report on her work: she provides medical care via video calls to people in Iran who have been attacked and injured by the Revolutionary Guards during peaceful protests.
The evening will be moderated by journalist Isabel Schayani (WDR).
NACH DEM MASSAKER IM IRAN – DIE WELT MUSS HANDELN is based on an initiative by Sarah Sandeh, a member of the Schauspiel Köln ensemble, and was curated by her together with dramaturg Traudl Bünger.
All proceeds from the event will go to ParsiMed e.V., a network of physicians in which Shabnam Fahimi-Weber is also active.
