Trajal Harrell, who opened the Britney X Festival at Offenbachplatz in 2019 with ANTIGONE SR, returns. THE KÖLN CONCERT is his debut with the newly founded dance company at the Schauspielhaus Zurich. A dance piece to the most famous solo piano recording of all time - Keith Jarrett's Köln Concert.
Harrell's KÖLN CONCERT is searching for a language in order to be able to be close to each other even in times of social distance. The shared experience of sensitive people, of people dancing and showing their vulnerability on stage, is a reminder of the need to stay close despite everything, to have respect not only for oneself but also for each other while not forgetting that there are loads of stories from people that are never heard.
The special style of Harrell's work does not only arise from the unusual combination of seemingly far apart dance languages such as voguing, postmodern dance and butoh, but also and above all from the fragility and humour that permeate all his work.
