TWO FOR THE SHOW

ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR THE MONEY
EXTENDED CHOREOGRAPHER'S CUT
by Richard Siegal / Ballet of Difference at Schauspiel Köln
From the net, for the net. Richard Siegal has expanded his self-reflexive online performance ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR THE MONEY with new scenes and a new, 25 minute pointe section. What's more, the rousing soundtrack by Lorenzo Bianchi-Hoesch is joined by new pieces by composer Markus Popp that are schooled in video games aesthetics. There's a set of dazzling new costumes by Flora Miranda and even a new stage design that Siegal created with lighting designer Matthias Singer. In a stunning new set that seems to give expression to the twists and turns of the last months as much as to a cyclical order of the cosmos, the 25-minute first part of the evening in particular, danced on pointe, is intended as a tribute to dance, the arts, and human encounters.

BLACKWATER

ONLINE STREAM
A Spanish island, an Austrian politician, the niece of a Russian oligarch: it’s a toxic combination. In front of a running, secretly installed camera, the man promises the woman control over the national media landscape to strengthen his own power. At the same time, in his Dionysian intoxication, he also proffers her the local nature: Rivers and lakes could be profitability privatised, and mountains and valleys used for lucrative road constructions. When the plan becomes public knowledge, the politician and his government are torn apart.

The deconstruction of the American Dream is at the centre of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel THE GRAPES OF WRATH. John Steinbeck tells the story of the Joad farming family from Oklahoma who, after years of drought, gives up their old life and sets out on a journey along Route 66. Their destination: California. But the Californian Dream recedes continuously further into the distance as the migrants only encounter swindlers, exploitation, and exclusion in the West. A story of the hour, revealing the connections between the economic crisis, the migration movement and climate change.

Based on Christopher Marlowe's play EDWARD II, the Austrian dramatist Ewald Palmetshofer rewrites the story of the renegade ruler King Edward II. He shifts the conflicts of the acting political personalities exclusively into the private sphere, where a new battlefield emerges: Desire and passion are facing reasons of state and control, longing and personal happiness are fighting against responsibility andaspirations to power. Is love, too, just a commodity to be traded to get what one wants?

Director Pınar Karabulut is now transforming Palmetshofer's text into an exclusive online series of six episodes. Starting on 12 February, a new episode will be released every Friday!

Stretching out to past and future dances
In their first collaboration with the team of Gintersdorfer and Klaßen, the dancers of the Ballet of Difference take up pieces from dance history. A basis therefore are works by amateurs and professional dancers from the Weimar Republic. Thereby, they find unpredictable connections that lead to newmovement combinations: The use of material, fashion, eroticism, reappraisal of exoticism, beauty, as well as competitive gymnastics versus collective and theme-focused dances, are keywords standing at the beginning of this work. Hans Unstern is building a new harp especially for this project. Be part of the digital live world premiere of GYMNASTICS, STRETCHING OUT TO PAST AND FUTURE DANCES on 27 February.

All for One and
One for the Money

Digital dance performance by
Richard Siegal / Ballet of Difference
In this performance, much is possible – and nothing is certain. In ALL FOR ONE AND ONE FOR THE MONEY, the audience can individually explore the virtual sphere of the piece, selecting different camera perspectives onto the performers.
The virtuoso dancers of Ballet of Difference move their bodies on the threshold between virtual and analogue reality. They recreate the great moments of YouTube and subvert the logic of an omnipresent techno-capitalism. Alternatively, you can join the actors who sit in front of webcams, play online games, talk to the audience about the post-factual society or make a final confession to their followers. Further dates will follow.

THE LETTERS OF JOHN

A MINI-SERIES BY THEDA NILSSON AND
JULIAN WOLF EICKE

Admittedly, the scenes in the hall can no longer be marvelled at, the stars of the entertainment industry in their recreationroom and the Valkyries can no longer be visited - but the following three video letters can be watched:

episode 1 - »Holy is my hearth«
episode 2 - »Weaponless, I fell into enemy's house«
episode 3 - »Where in mountains you hide«
