After the DARK RED project with "Rosas" in 2021 at the Kolumba Museum, we are now pleased to present Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker with a solo at the Depot. In "The Goldberg Variations, BWV 988", the Belgian choreographer, together with the pianist Pavel Kolesnikov, dedicates herself to Bach's late work, which exceeds the boundaries of musical themes in a play of variations, canons and fugues. The music, which consists of the introductory Aria and thirty variations, challenges the choreography in a complex way to find a dance form that is at the same time adaptable and flexible enough to preserve its unchanging centre. Thereby, she remains true to the principle of the musical score oft he choreography: direct communication with the music and a strictly structured framework. The result is a dance concert which allows each, the music and the dance, to keep their own voice, while also uniting the two harmoniously. Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is one of the most influential and style-forming choreographers of contemporary dance. She is co-founder of "p.a.r.t.s.", the "Performing Arts Research and Training Studios" in Brussels, one of the most important European training centres in the field of dance and performance, which she has directed ever since.
